Over 20,000 Hits in the Past Week

It's been less than three months and our statistics indicate the new FLGenWeb sites had over 20,000 hits in the past week -- that's all of our sites combined (excluding the few that are not hosted by FLGenWeb). Where did all the hits come from? The vast majority came from Google and other search engines. Many were from Linkpendium. Some were links from one FLGenWeb page to another.

Thanks go out to all our County Coordinators, Project Managers and contributors for making this transition
successful.

Way to go!

Citrus County Chronicle Obituaries

The FLGenWeb Project, Inc.
is proud to announce an agreement between FLGenWeb and the Citrus County Chronicle whereby the FLGenWeb may republish their obituaries in the FLGenWeb Archives. This is the beginning of what I hope to become a major effort by FLGenWeb to place Florida Obituaries online.

This is the beginning of a FLGenWeb Florida Obituary database. For this project a few volunteers will be needed to copy and paste newspaper obituaries into a wordprocessor and send on to the project manager who, for the time being is me.

If you would like to help with this project, or know someone who would, please e-mail me for details. Volunteers for this project need not be FLGenWeb Members.

At this time we have permission to post Obituaries from the Citrus County Chronicle and the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper with more to come soon.
